Digital notarisation requires registration and approved platforms

Section 5(2) of the Act and the Professional Practice Regulations require notaries who perform digital notarisations to be registered with the Supreme Court and to use approved digital platforms.

All seals are held to the same standard

Physical or electronic, every seal is considered part of the notarial certificate and is subject to the same authenticity standards.

Ex-officio notaries have a distinct seal requirement

Magistrates and Customs collectors acting as notaries are explicitly required to use a seal bearing their office name and the legend “Notary ex officio”.

You are responsible for keeping your record current

Any change to your name or practice name must be promptly updated with the Chief Registrar through the electronic notary register, so your official seal records stay accurate.
